Like any other drug, RU 486 is not without any complications and side effects. Among these are bleeding, cramping, nauseam headaches and diarrhea. About one percent of women who undergo this process may experience severe bleeding that requires blood transfusion that can be fatal in cases where no professional supervision has been employed.
More than the physical anguish that RU 486 or contracting abortion per
se brings is the stigma attached to this act and the moral repercussions
that would automatically lead to excommunication from the Church, which
it's representatives have announced at the start of the RU 486 issue. Excommunication
would mean the loss of a person's right to receive the Church's sacraments
and Holy Eucharist.
